Mod Mania

I was driving home today during rush hour and since I hate rush hour I decided to take 6 because its less congested. So on my way home I passed by the Home Depot and thought now is the perfect time to do my second mod. Now most people get a short throw shifter, not me, I get a short throw clutch. So I bought my parts, 1 10mm bolt and nut.

Took out the old clutch stop and put in the new one.

After adjusting it so that I can start the car and shift gears I knew my work was done. To finish the product I put a felt slider on it.(not in picture)

So what we have here is my first mod and my second mod, one cost over $500 and the other $2, see if you can guess which one costs which.

Galactica Season 3 Ruminations and Season 4 Speculations

“Battlestar Galactica” mastermind Ronald D. Moore is talking, and he’s answering a lot of questions the fans are asking after Sunday night’s third-season finale.

In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Rob Owen, Moore reveals that, yes, Galen Tyrol, Saul Tigh, Sam Anders and Tory Foster are indeed four of the “final five” Cylons. But Moore also cautions that they are “fundamentally different Cylons.”

I'll say! Bill Adama and a lot of others in the colonial fleet witnessed Saul Tigh serving in Cylon War I 40 years ago. He may have even been around before the “invention” of the toaster centurions!

Which begs the question, “What are Cylons”? The opening of the show each week tells us that they were “created by man” and that they “evolved” and that they “have a plan.”

But. The Final Five Cylons were lurking in the Eye of Jupiter, an edifice supposedly built by human ancestors (or gods, or something) 3,000 years before the toasters were supposedly “invented.”

The proposed “Caprica” prequel series, set 50 to 70 years before “Galactica,” would center on civil rights attorney Joseph Adama (Bill’s dad) and his opposition to the early Cylon-creating efforts of somebody named “Greystone.” So was Greystone a Cylon? Was he somehow influenced or directed by Cylons all those years ago to create these robots? And if so, why?

And how long ago did the Final Five Cylons “evolve”? And how long has “the plan” been in place?

Other highlights of the new Owen-Moore interview:

* The 2008 episodes (and perhaps the TV-movie due this autumn?) will deal with the backstories for Galen, Saul, Sam and Tory. “A part of next season's storylines will uncover how they came to be who they are and the specifics of that.”

* Moore is not ruling out the idea that Starbuck is only in Apollo’s head. (Real or not, Katee Sackoff will return to her status as series regular next season.)

* “Will we meet the final fifth Cylon next season?” asks Owen. “I think so,” replies Moore.

* D’Anna will be back if Lucy Lawless’ schedule permits. “We're developing a storyline dealing with D'Anna and what she saw and who she was talking to,” says Moore.

* The “entire cast” will be in the Pegasus TV-movie due this autumn.

* Moore says whether or not the show will receive a fifth season “has nothing to do with next year's ratings. It's first and foremost a creative decision.” He goes on to say: “I think we would probably not go to them [and ask for more episodes] unless we were pretty sure they would give them to us.”

* No matter how many episodes are left, Moore is determined that there will be no unresolved cliffhanger, and that the series will end with Earth.

Behold all of the Post-Gazette’s must-read interview with Moore here.

Meanwhile, Moore gives a much shorter interview to TVWeek.com, in which he is asked (among other things):

* “Your show was renewed for 13 episodes, then this week you got the extra nine. The renewals of some NBC shows have hinged on budget cuts -- was that the case here?”

* “Katie Sackhoff [who plays Starbuck] made it sound in media interviews as if she's off the show and getting new jobs. Was that part of the ruse?”

Top Gear

Not sure if you've been aware of this but there has been some doubt cast over the future of Top Gear. So lets start things off with a bit of a history lesson. In Jeremy Clarkson's newspaper column in "The Sun" he wrote: "After last week's Top Gear, the continuity announcer said the show would be back in the summer. Can I just say, here and now, it won't be."

Which lead the BBC to say "Top Gear will be back. A summer special is planned. A new series would reach screens in the autumn"

On top of all of that the lease for Dunsfold is up, they want to turn it into a housing development.

But rest assured because Clarkson has now confirmed himself that he and the series will be back.

I'm still not sure if it will be at Dunsfold or at a different place. If they have to move though, it would null and void the "power lap" board as well as the "star in a reasonably priced car" board. And would raise a question as to why they redid the studio last year if they were just going to have to redo it a year later.

The Riches

My friend Brad has told me about a new television show on the FX network, called "The Riches". Its about a family of gypsies who basically assume the lives a upper-middle class family after the are accidentally run off the road by them in there RV. So far only 2 episodes have been aired and they are both very entertaining, having a fine line of wit, comedy and drama. The series stars Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver and also stars Jewel Staite's little sister (actually not, but looks damn close) Shannon Woodward. So check it out.

Gumball 3000: Around the World in 8 Days

"The 2006 rally was the most ambitious of any rally so far, starting London and finishing in Los Angeles just 8 days later, with the organisers flying all 120 cars from Europe to Asia and again from Asia to Europe in 3 [citation needed] of the largest aeroplanes in the world Antonov An-124, and an Iceland Air passenger Boeing 757. The rally started on April 29, 2006 in Pall Mall, London. It continued on to Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade. The drivers then boarded a plane in Serbia to be taken to Thailand for the race's second leg between Phuket and Bangkok. The final leg took place in the United States and ran from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, via Las Vegas, where the legendary Snoop Dogg performed live at the Gumball party.

Entrants included Jackass stars Ryan Dunn and Bam Margera, driving Bams 'Billy Idol' customised Lamborghini Gallardo, Tony Hawk, Mike Vallely, and Rooftop Escamilla in a Jeep SRT8, Blink 182's Travis Barker drove his Rolls Royce Phantom with DJ Swiss Beats, Dirty Sanchez' Dan Joyce, Matthew Pitchard, and Love Actually star Martine McCutcheon drove a pink Range Rover and American television host Matt Johnston drove his custom 2006 Dodge Charger, amongst Gumball's regular assortment of eccentrics and billionaires from all over the world."

Thats the official description but the show is based around 2 people, they both have to complete a series of challenges given to them on each leg of the race. The difference is that one has a Bentley and the other has to hitch-hike the entire race. Its quite entertaining, only 6 episodes long and only 24 minutes an episode. So do yourself a favor and watch some kickass cars.

300

Whoops, hang on one second I think my face just fell off again after it was ROCKED OFF from the most ass kicking movie made in 2007 and possibly EVER!!! Thats right, 300 is the type of movie that gives your eyes boners, its the type of movie that makes you shit dvd copies of lesser movies, its the type of movie that puts hair on men's chests, the type that is so kickass that while said ass is being kicked, its kicking more ass while that ass is hitting someone's balls with a hammer.

The movie starts out with a young King Leonidas going through the typical Spartan training, that training is called "I'm-a-gonna-kick-your-ass". In one scene he fights off a wolf twice his size and doesn't even break a sweat. We then jump 30 years into the future to where he now is king and fucking his wife...hardcore doggie style. He's greeted by a messenger from Xerxes basically telling him that unless he kneels before Xerxes, that Xerxes is going to come in and wipe out Sparta. Leonidas doesn't take to kindly to this, so with the "caps lock" "on" he kindly tells the messenger where Leonidas stands on the issue.

Then the rest of the movie happens, which is filled with totally ass kicking ass kicking sequences of fighting between 300 Spartans and countless Persians. The movie might not have much of a plot, but when its this awesome....it doesn't need one. This is style over substance at its finest and will leave you wanting more. So do yourself a favor and see this movie, even better, see it in IMAX and have your faced rocked off....permanently.

WTF Scifi???

Its around this time of year that I usually start to get excited for the gloriousness that is April. In April for the past few years the Scifi channel has done something called "Mini-series Month". Which is awesome because I get to watch all these great miniseries like "Dune, Children of Dune, and FarScape Peacekeeper Wars". Its pretty much my annual viewing of these greats. But this year I have to give a big WHAT THE FUCK to the Scifi Channel. In past years they have either shown them back to back (to back for Dune and COD), or show part 1 one night then part 2 the next. Now you're probably reading that sentence saying "what other options are there?", well hold your horses there cowboy I'm getting to my point. When they've shown them part 1 one night and part 2 the next its aired at 7 or 9 pm. Last year it was the back to back style starting at 10 pm. Which for FarScape: PW was all cool since it was over by 2 am. For Dune and COD it kind of sucked since it ended at 4 am, but whatever I'm willing to stick it out for one night.

But this year, I took a looksy ahead at the schedule and guess when Peacekeeper wars is showing, Sunday April 1st at midnight (which is technically April 2nd at 12:00 am) and then showing the 2nd part at 2 am. So its a little later than I'd like to be up, but ok, whatever. Then they really gave Dune and COD the shaft. Tuesday April 17 at 2 am (once again technically Wednesday April 18th 2am) they show part 1. And part 2 will air the following night at the same horrible time. And the same with Part 3. Then a week later Tuesday April 24 at 2 am (once again technically Wednesday April 25th 2am) they start Children of Dune. And go with the same night after night style.

Now the fact that they have put these in 3rd shift unwatchable hours isn't the part that pisses me off.....well it does, but not as much as the fact that they put these quality miniseries at 2 am while they put absolute shit like "King Cobra, Dragon Dynasty, and Pterodactyl" on Saturday's at reasonable hours. At this point I think I'm just going to watch those on dvd.....in 5.1 sound and 480p when I want to, instead of watching it on scifi at those unreasonable hours.

So what are the ones to watch then? Well there are really only two. On Sunday the 22nd at 8am "Legend of Earthsea" parts 1 and 2 are on. And finally "The Lost Room" parts 1, 2 and 3 which is on Wednesday the 25th starting at 6 pm.

Here is the entire schedule.
