2008 Year in Review
The year 2008 began sometime back in January, I believe it was on the 1st at 12:00 am, but I could be wrong. My year at least has pretty much been dominated by my purchase of a townhouse in Blaine, and so far my only complaint is the damned neighbors daughter who parks her fucking car in front of my house when she should be parking it on there fucking driveway. Other than that not too much excitement (at least compared to that) has happened. Things of note: another fantastic trip to Duluth / North shore, I went to Camdenton, MO a bunch of times, Bryan and Jen tied the knot and finally the "Friday Flannel" made its swan song. Overall a good year, here's hoping next year will bring more fun and excitement.

Fall TV
For those of you living under a rock.
The Office, Heroes, Family Guy and Dexter have all hit the airwaves with new episodes.
The office: back in the full swing of things with a "weight loss" episode which was capped by Jim proposing to Pam AND Stanley losing 7 lbs!
Heroes: now still a good show and all, I just sometimes wonder about the leaps of faith us viewers are told to make. Ex. Future Peter could solve ALL of this seasons problems so far by simply traveling back in time and shotting Nathan better.
Dexter: Wow, once again this show never ceases to amaze me. If you haven't seen it, just watch it already!

My Name Is Bruce
For years I've felt like I've just been drifting through life.....that is until now. My Name Is Bruce, the next movie to come out by the one and only Bruce Campbell is coming to Minneapolis to screen the movie, tentatively 12/5. I foresee only 1 issue with going to this, once I do, I have no purpose to live.....well maybe to one day meet my other hero, Mike Rowe.

Top Gear Series 11!
Go here for the Top Gear Advert Meeting.
Also, the first episode.
"Top Gear Sunday 22 June
8:00pm - 9:00pm
BBC2
The very latest Top Gear news and views from the usual team. Jeremy, Richard and James apply their minds to the question of what the British police should drive. At the moment Bobbies are forced to drive around in diesel hatchbacks, gingerly shuffling the steering wheel and letting criminals get away rather than risk scuffing their wheel trims. So, armed with no more than 1000 pounds each, the Top Gear boys set out to buy a bargain priced police cruiser that can take part in a dramatic chase without fear of costing the tax payer a packet if it gets broken. Meanwhile, James introduces a new member of the Top Gear team and steps aside so they can immediately make their mark on the show with a remarkable feat of daring. And as if that wasn't enough, Jeremy tears up the Top Gear track in the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia, the car that aims to put some passion back into the Italian supercar maker's increasingly nerdy and computerised stable. Plus, there's a break from the norm as the Reasonably Priced Car welcomes a pair of stars in the contrasting shapes of the Friday Night Project's Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins. All this, and some sound advice about how to deal with rising petrol prices. Top Gear is longer, stronger, faster, better and probably a bit more on fire than ever before. "

More Top Gear News
From Producer Andy Wilman:
"Another quiet week at Top Gear. We’ve just finished shooting our Cheap Alfa Romeos Challenge, Top Gear vs The Germans is also in the can, our new character has just shot his or her films, and in the edit suite I’m very happy with our We Can Make Better Police Cars piece.
Richard’s just shot a birthday tribute to Touring Cars, and Jeremy’s fiddling with his CLK Black film, cos he’s not happy with the structure. There was a scary moment when he said he’d found some music that would improve it, but fortunately this time it wasn’t a 16 minute keyboard solo from the 1970s, and it actually has improved it, not that any of us in the edit will ever tell him.
Elsewhere Lord Stig has come out of suspended animation and whacked in his first lap time of the new run. It’s for the F430 Scuderia and bugger me, glue down any ornaments on top of your telly."
And the big race they're doing this year is in Japan. From what I've heard its James and Richard in a Bullet train against Jeremy in a Nissan GT-R.

Final Stage Resistor
So for the past few months my fan blower in my car has been "panting" like a dog, so I did some research and apparently this is a common problem on e46 2001-2002 cars. I could either take it to the stealership and pay $400 or $90 and fix it myself. So a few DIY guides and 2 hours later.

Here's my car without the glovebox. The location of the resistor is directly behind the fan controls next to the firewall.

The top one is the new one, and the bottom the old.

The black thing in the middle with all the wires is the resistor installed. My hands hurt.

The Office and BSG!
For those of you that live under a rock BSG has made its triumphant return to tv after not showing a new episode for over a year. And let me just say HOLY FUCK!
Spoilers in invisotext
The scene with Tigh and Adama in the CIC in the opening sequence.....wow, I hope we get more of these. And as far as "the eye" goes, maybe I'm reading too much into this but it was the right eye of Anders, it was the right eye Tigh shot Adama with.....so what does this all mean for Tigh since he doesn't have a right eye? Just an interesting thought.
Anyways, along with Galactica being back on the air we get new episodes of The Office tomorrow. Its a good day to be in tvland!

News and Other Ramblings
Apparently my domain forgot to auto renew itself, so thats why you couldn't reach this site for a few days. Not to worry, I have reestablished its auto renew status.
Also, some of our favorite shows are returning soon, such as The Office and 30 rock on April 30th, and Dirty Jobs and The Deadliest Catch on April 14th and 15th.
Bad news, all signs are pointing towards the Screen Actors Guild going on strike this summer, so probably ANOTHER stoppage of tv shows.

And finding out this happened is how I started my day today.
And finally some great news. A good friend of mine Justin Reineking is going to be a father of a baby girl later this year, so congrats to him!

Union City, IN
For those of you that don't know, I just returned from Union City, Indiana......my back hurts.

Yes, that says "Tom Raper RV's"

Here's the old beast of a rental car I got with my field equipment, you can see the bailer, the bailer rope, my aluminum clipboard, some coolers, etc. etc.

I'd say this is THE best picture ever!!!!!

I know what you're thinking you sick bastard.

Finally, Minneapolis from 10,000 feet.

Camdenton, MO
So our task in Camdenton was to take samples from a bunch of water wells. The process for this is to take out a certain volume of water and then test it for pH, temp, and conductance. Then after doing this 3 times we collect 3 samples to test for VOC's.

Here is our 1000 gallon purge tank, that we put all the water we pumped out over the week into.

Here is one of our pumps we used.

This is Josiah the red-bearded man with glasses.

A look at the back of the truck, equipped with a 200 gallon tank.

Random Factoids
So after reading what Nate had written about the past websites it got me thinking about things that have happened in the past few years. So here's a list of some interesting things that have happened.
It has been:
1546 days since I started to Blog (4 years, 2 months, 24 days)
5, the number of blogs I've had. The first one on blogspot, 2nd one on some random free site, 3rd one that I hosted on byethost, 4th one was in exile version 1, and the 5th one on blogspot.
446 days of being in exile since byethost lost all my data.
353 days since I've been in exile of being in exile after blogspot forced me to change my account.
2003 - 40 posts (started blog on November 5th)
2004 - 185 posts
2005* - 37 known posts (moved to 2nd site, which is gone forever)
2006* - 24 known posts (moved to bythost servers, which got deleted as well)
2007 - 125 posts (began exile)
* I'm guessing that 2005 and 2006 had similar numbers as 2004, as those were my college years and therefore had ample free time.

RIP
I've got horrible news, today, Friday January 25th in the year 2008 at approximately 11:03 cst, we lost a dear dear friend. It was at this time that I discovered a hole in the elbow of....the Friday Flannel. The Friday Flannel died the same way it lived, cordoroyish. I'm not sure what that means but I'm a bit emotional here so just bear with me. The Friday Flannel began its life in the year 1998 probably made in some sweat factory by a 7 year old for 9 cents, it was then sold to the Eddie Bauer clothing company where it was purchased by me. Within weeks of purchase it immediately found its home on Friday's, thus signaling the end of the week. It is my humble opinion that the Friday Flannel has indeed grown beyond its simple confines of being a flannel that is worn on Friday's, but has become a legend in its own right. For with the exception of summertime, it has indeed been worn every single Friday for the past 10 years. To give a rough estimate thats 400 wearings, 400 of the best damn Friday's in the history of time! The Friday Flannel is deceased by all the other clothes I've outgrown and / or destroyed in some fashion. And it is survived by nothing of any significance.......today truly is a sad sad day. Please join me in mourning for the loss of a dear friend. And may the Friday Flannel rest in Peace.

Cloverfield
So whats all this hub ub about in this "Cloverfield" movie. Well let me give you a rundown of what this movie is all about.
Premise of movie: A giant monster is attacking New York
Premise of Premise of movie: Smaller monsters that fall off the big monsters back are attacking New York
Premise of Premise of Premise of movie: We're fucked!
Cloverfield is a movie unlike any movie thats been done before, there is nothing traditional about this. At no point do you get the standard military "what is it?", "how do we destroy it?", etc. It all starts out at a commercial for Abercrombie and Fitch, where beautiful people party with beautiful people, but before you know it the statue of liberty is headless, the empire state building is now a pile of rubble and the monster has just fucked you in the ass. If I were to describe this movie in one phrase I'd say "this movie is like a pussy that eats YOU out".
Some words of wisdom, at the very end pay attention to the right side of the screen, it'll blow your mind, and stay there until the end of the credits.
